The R-PODID project received prominent attention at the SMART 2025 ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Smart Structures and Materials, held at Johannes Kepler University (JKU) in Linz, Austria.
Researchers Stefan Mallinger and Wolfgang Gruber from JKU held an R-PODID-related presentation titled "A Comprehensive Review of Prior Art in Bearingless Induction Machine – Part 1: Control."
Their contribution, rooted in the ongoing R-PODID research, was part of a broader agenda highlighting advances in smart materials and intelligent mechanical systems.
Now in its 11th edition, SMART 2025 continues a two-decade tradition of international collaboration, with previous conferences held across Europe in countries such as Poland, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, and Greece. This year marked the first time the event was hosted in Linz.
The conference was co-organised by three leading Austrian institutions: the Institute of Technical Mechanics (TMECH), the Institute of Structural Lightweight Design (IKL), and the Linz Center of Mechatronics (LCM). It brought together scientists and engineers from across disciplines to discuss the latest developments in smart systems and their applications in various industries.
