In December 2024, R-PODID partner Neways Technologies (NEI) organised a two-day workshop to advance Work Package 2 (WP2) objectives.
The event focused on refining integration requirements for the project’s microcontrollers and the main board of the Use Case 1 demonstrator. Partners from PDMFC, Brno University of Technology (BUT), and
Leonardo Engineering and Research (LEAR) joined Neways to address critical technical
aspects and align their efforts.
The first day provided updates on the current status of the Use Case 1 demonstrator, including progress on hardware unit testing of the PCM v0, motor control software, and AI software development. NEI also demonstrated its test environment, offering valuable insights for the consortium. Open discussions followed, delving into software-related topics such as integration challenges for both AI and motor control microcontrollers.
Day two centred on the integration of PCM v0 into the Use Case 1 demonstrator. Furthermore, Neways demonstrated the PCM v0 hardware functionality. Partners reviewed the requirements for the main board and the interfaces between PCM v0, microcontrollers, and other hardware components. Discussions also addressed integration testing, including defining roles and responsibilities, sourcing training data, and testing the final software. Key hardware challenges, such as DC link and output filter requirements, were also explored in detail.
The workshop served as a productive forum for collaboration, allowing partners to clarify technical responsibilities, exchange knowledge, and tackle open questions. This alignment is vital for achieving the ambitious goals of R-PODID’s WP2, and the outcomes of the workshop provide a strong foundation for the next stages of development.
